The walk across the massive frozen lake to get to this spot was one I'll probably never forget. It was 700 metres from one side to the other, walking over crazy frozen cracks to the eerie sound of creaking and deep booming as the gigantic ice plates heaved and squeezed against each other. I was seriously questioning my sanity with every step I took!
It was all okay though, turned out that the ice was actually very thick and we kind of got used to the scary noises as the night wore on. Stayed here in bitterly cold conditions (minus 16) for about 4 hours waiting for the show to kick off, this was as good as it got though, not as lively as forecast but still totally magical.
